Current Conditions:
The weather is holding up nicely, making it a great day to get out on the water. Calm seas and stable skies are setting the stage for an enjoyable fishing outing.
Species Report:
- Triggerfish & Red Snapper: Even though both are officially out of season, anglers have been landing plenty of triggerfish and several red snappers.
- Vermillion Snapper: These are biting decently today.
- Porgies: The bite is a bit slow on porgies.
- Red Grouper: Bites are good, but finding a keeper red grouper remains a challenge.
- Bonita & Sharks: Bonita are everywhere, though shark activity is notably high.
- Squid & Blackfin Tuna: Squid have been active off the piers. This suggests that if another cold snap hits before spring, the blackfin tuna bite might pick up soon.
- Wahoo: These fish are patrolling the waters, but targeting wahoo generally requires an extended trip of at least eight hours.
- Gag Grouper & Toro Snapper: Gag grouper are biting well, and toro snapper appear to be in abundance.
Forecast:
Next week, rain is on the horizon with seas expected to remain calm until about Wednesday. Following that, a surge in high barometric pressure will stir up the surf through the weekend, so plan your trips accordingly.
Tight lines and safe fishing!
