Questions about weather?

FAQ Icon

What happens if it rains?

Chevron Arrow Icon
Light rain won’t stop the trip! We fish in most weather conditions, so bring a rain jacket or poncho just in case. However, if the rain is accompanied by strong winds, large waves, lightning, or unsafe conditions, we may delay, reschedule, or cancel the trip for safety reasons.
FAQ Icon

What if I REALLY REALLY want to go fishing even if its rough conditions?

Chevron Arrow Icon

We understand that the weather and your time in Destin don't always cooperate. if you REALLY REALLY want to go fishing, and its safe, Captain Jon is pretty hard core and he we will take you fishing. We certainly do not recommend it.
Point being, 90% of the time if the captain tells you its going to be rough, what he really means is that somebody in your party is going to be puking over the side of the boat, and it isn't going to be very fun for you. It is his polite way of telling you that you should delay, reschedule, or cancel the trip. If you do decide to go anyways, and you call the trip early, we won't judge you, but we will charge you for the full amount of the trip.

What do I do if I catch a trophy fish?

Chevron Arrow Icon
Check Local Regulations – Some species have size limits or are catch-and-release only. We will make sure you’re following local laws.
Take Photos & Measurements – Capture clear pictures with a measuring tape or ruler to document the size.
Handle with Care – If releasing, wet your hands before handling, avoid keeping the fish out of water too long, and gently place it back into the water.
Keep or Mount? – If you want a replica mount, you don’t need to keep the fish! We can take detailed measurements and photos, 3D scans, then release it. If keeping it, we will store it properly on ice.
Report Your Catch – Florida has a trophy fish program where you can register your catch for recognition.
